TR-180-PP — Poly-Rayon (TR) Poplin 180gsm | Corporate & Hospitality Uniform Shirt Fabric

TR-180-PP is an 80/20 polyester-rayon poplin engineered for uniform shirt programs that require the no-iron convenience of polyester with the soft hand and matte finish of a natural fiber blend.

The higher polyester content (80% vs. the 65% used in standard PC poplin) delivers exceptional wrinkle resistance — shirts made from this fabric can be tumble dried and hung without ironing for most professional settings. The 20% rayon content softens the hand feel and eliminates the synthetic shine that 100% polyester poplin can show, giving the fabric a matte, cotton-like appearance.

At 180 GSM, this fabric is slightly heavier than standard shirting poplin (typically 120–150 GSM), providing better opacity and a more substantial feel — appropriate for corporate uniforms where a flimsy shirt would look unprofessional.

Fabric Hand & Appearance

  • Hand feel: Smooth, soft, with a clean poplin finish. The 20% rayon content is noticeable as a softer, more fluid hand compared to standard PC poplin. No synthetic or plasticky feel.
  • Appearance: Clean poplin surface with a matte, non-reflective finish. Colors appear warm and natural — the rayon content absorbs dye differently than polyester, creating depth. Fine rib texture visible on close inspection.
  • Drape: Lightweight with body — holds a collar and cuff structure cleanly. Skims the body without clinging.

✅ No-iron performance: At 80% polyester content, TR-180-PP provides genuine tumble-dry-and-wear performance. Shirts can be machine washed, tumble dried on medium, and hung immediately — the fabric recovers wrinkles within minutes of hanging. For shirt programs where ironing labor is a significant operational cost, this fabric eliminates it.

FAQ

Q: Is 180 GSM too heavy for a uniform shirt? A: No — 180 GSM is heavier than standard dress shirt poplin (120–150 GSM) but this is intentional. The additional weight provides better opacity (no sheerness), a more substantial professional feel, and better durability through industrial laundry. It is the standard weight for corporate and hospitality uniform shirts.

Q: Does this fabric need ironing? A: No — the 80% polyester content provides excellent wrinkle recovery. After tumble drying on medium, hang the shirt immediately and it will be ready to wear within minutes. For a pressed finish, a quick low-heat iron will sharpen the collar and cuffs, but it is not necessary for a professional appearance.

Q: Does the 20% rayon content affect wash durability? A: No — rayon is a durable fiber when properly processed. The 80/20 TR blend is one of the most reliable uniform shirting specifications. In industrial laundry, TR-180-PP typically lasts 12–18 months before replacement.

Q: Is this fabric suitable for embroidery with corporate logos? A: Yes — the Ne 45 × Ne 45 poplin weave holds embroidery cleanly. The 180gsm weight provides enough body to prevent puckering around high-density stitch areas. Use standard 40–60 weight embroidery thread.

Q: How does this compare to your 100% cotton poplin (COT-PP-140)? A: TR-180-PP does not need ironing; COT-PP-140 does. COT-PP-140 has a 100% cotton label that some programs require. TR-180-PP has a more substantial weight and better wrinkle recovery. For programs that want “no-iron” and do not require a 100% cotton specification, TR-180-PP is the better choice.
