Description
Why Hospital Laundering Demands a Different Fabric Spec
Hospital laundry protocols are among the most aggressive of any industry — high-pH detergents, chlorine or oxygen-based disinfectants, and wash temperatures of 75–85°C to meet infection control standards. A lab coat washed daily or every other shift faces 150–250+ industrial wash cycles per year. Fabric that hasn’t been specified for this environment fades, shrinks, and loses its structured shape well before the garment’s expected service life ends.
Our lab coats are built from fabric specified and tested for exactly this laundering profile — not adapted from general workwear fabric as an afterthought.

Customization for Hospital Programs
- Embroidery — physician name, credentials, department, hospital logo
- Color-coding by department — many hospitals assign trim colors or piping by specialty; we can match this to your existing system
- Consistent reorder specs — every reorder ships against the same documented fabric and construction spec, so a coat ordered in year three still matches the one ordered in year one
- Custom sizing programs — for hospitals standardizing across multiple facilities or departments
Applications
- Hospitals and teaching hospitals — daily wear across long shifts, frequent institutional laundering
- Private practices and clinics — professional appearance for patient-facing consultation
- Surgical centers — consultation and rounds coats (see our separate scrub and surgical wear line for OR-specific garments)
- Outpatient facilities — durable enough for high-turnover, multi-provider environments
Quality Verification
Before committing to a bulk order, we provide:
- Pre-production sample for approval
- Colorfastness and shrinkage test certificates on request (ISO 105-C06, ISO 6330)
- Batch-specific test reports matching your shipment’s roll numbers — not generic supplier documentation
FAQ
How many industrial washes can this fabric handle before visible fading? Our fabric is specified and tested to hold Grade 4 or better colorfastness (ISO 105-C06) through 50 wash cycles at 75°C with bleach — well beyond standard commercial testing, which typically only covers 1–3 cycles. For hospital laundering at 150+ cycles per year, we recommend requesting our extended test data before committing to a large order.
Will these coats shrink or lose shape after repeated hospital laundering? Shrinkage is held to ≤2.0% (warp) and ≤1.5% (weft) through heat-setting, compaction, and resin finishing applied as standard — not an optional upgrade. A coat that fits on day one should still fit on wash 100.
What’s the minimum order quantity? 50 units per style and color. Mixed sizes within that quantity are accepted.
Can you match our hospital’s existing uniform color or department color-coding system? Yes. Send us a fabric swatch or Pantone reference and we’ll provide a color-matched sample before bulk production.
Do you offer scrubs or surgical wear as well? Yes — this page covers our lab coat line specifically. For scrubs, surgical gowns, or OR-specific garments with liquid barrier requirements, contact us for our surgical wear specifications.
What documentation do you provide with bulk orders? Fiber composition certificates, colorfastness test reports (ISO 105-C06), and shrinkage test data (ISO 6330), with batch-specific reporting matching your shipment’s roll numbers, available on request.
