LV-5545 is a linen-viscose sandwashed fabric developed specifically for female uniform applications where drape and comfort matter as much as appearance.
55% linen provides the natural slub texture, breathability, and thermal regulation that linen is known for. 45% viscose transforms the hand feel — linen alone can be stiff and scratchy, but viscose gives this fabric a fluid drape and a soft, peach-skin touch that sits comfortably against the skin all day.
The sandwash finish is the key differentiator. The fabric goes through an enzyme wash that breaks down surface fibers, creating a supple, lived-in softness with a subtle micro-peach texture. No chemical softeners — the softness is mechanical and permanent.
Pure linen has two problems in female uniform cut-and-sew: it drapes stiffly and wrinkles deeply. Polyester knits solve the drape problem but trap heat and look cheap.

Fabric Hand & Appearance
Hand feel: Extremely soft, smooth, with a subtle peach-skin texture. No stiffness, no scratchiness. The sandwash creates a fabric that feels like it has already been worn and washed several times.
Appearance: Natural linen slub texture is visible but softened — less pronounced than in pure linen. The surface has a gentle, matte sheen from the viscose content. Solid dye colors appear rich and saturated.
Drape: Excellent fluidity. This fabric hangs and moves with the body — ideal for A-line dresses, wrap blouses, and skirts. Does not tent or stand away from the body like pure linen.

Q: What exactly is sandwashing? A: Sandwashing is an enzyme wash treatment that gently abrades the fabric surface, creating a soft, peach-skin texture. Unlike chemical softeners that wash out after a few cycles, the sandwash effect is permanent — it is a physical change to the fiber surface, not a coating.
Q: How does this compare to 100% linen? A: 100% linen is stiffer, scratchier, and wrinkles much more deeply. LV-5545 has superior drape, a much softer hand feel, and significantly reduced wrinkling. The trade-off is slightly less breathability and a less pronounced linen texture — acceptable for most uniform applications.
Q: Can I machine wash this fabric for industrial laundry programs? A: Yes, but at 30°C max with gentle cycle. The viscose content is sensitive to high temperature and high-speed spinning. For industrial programs, we recommend the DP (wrinkle-resistant) finish and specifying 30°C wash in your laundry protocol.
